Writing is a method of representing language in visual or tactile form. Writing systems use sets of symbols to represent the sounds of speech, and may also have symbols for such things as punctuation and numerals.
Reading
Reading is a basic life skill. It is a cornerstone for a child's success in school, and, indeed, throughout life. Without the ability to read well, opportunities for personal fulfillment and job success inevitably will be lost. --Becoming a Nation of Readers: The Report of the Commission on Reading
Richard Anderson and the Commission on Reading define reading as the process of constructing meaning from written texts. Skilled reading is
constructive: learning to reason about written material using knowledge from everyday life and from disciplined fields of study;
fluent: mastery of basic processes to the point where they are automatic so that attention is freed for the analysis of meaning;
strategic: controlling one’s reading in relation to one’s purpose, the nature of the material and whether one is comprehending;
motivated: able to sustain attention and learning that written material can be interesting and informative; and
a lifelong pursuit: continuous practices, development, and refinement.
Speaking Ability
Speaking in development of the relationship between speakers on his hearer. Speaking as a communicate activity has a kind of scope or area that skills can apply. Speaking needs performance, expression, intonation, stressing, pronunciation, grammar and confidence to explore the idea or opinion.
In speaking ability, the most effective tool for communication is speaking, because it can be comprehended quickly. The most human beings use speaking to express message from a speaker to a hearer in all situation and condition such as relaxes situation where speaking is needed.
Speaking is used more often and it is more important to make students or adults orally express their message to show their feeling, ideas, happiness, angry and emotion. Systematic and continues instruction must be developed in order to teach and reinforce the basic attitude skill and abilities of their expression and implement their use in meaningful communicational situations. Speaking scope is limited in grammar, vocabulary, and pronunciation accuracy because they are more important in speaking than writing. In speaking, the students must have many vocabularies. They should master vocabulary to effect that they can use it fluently add to their feeling of competency in expression. Fluency in language is developed through communication of complete understanding of meaningful words.

Listening is the process of understanding speech in a first or second language.It means that listening is one of major skill that every English student must had. Practically, there are still many people who have lack of listening skill than other skill, especially it is the common problem the mostly ESL student had. For example when student could speak English fluently but she could not identify what the native speaker said. It could be influenced by neither the speed of speech that is too fast nor the low responses skill of what they heard.
